We can’t do anything about the atmospheric seeing, but we can control another source of air turbulence that impacts image quality; that’s the telescope temperature. Just after a weather front moves through, the air may be clear, but the seeing is usually poor because of the turbulence associated with the front. A stable air mass means stable seeing. Warm, high pressure cells tend to have good seeing associated with them. Though they may also spawn fog or mist and transparency might suffer. Cold air masses have a larger temperature gradient between the ground and the air so the seeing tends to be poorer.
